Starting my translation journey through the new album, CONTEMPORARY EMOTION, with the opening track! I'll be going through the songs in a random order from here on out, but if there's any particular song you'd like me to tackle do let me know! QC by Chinatsu as per usual.
So a bit of an exception, but I felt like translating this Finnish song that has been stuck in my head since last week when I first heard it. It's about all the people working thankless yet utterly important jobs in society and it kinda just struck a cord with me. Anyways, humor me and give it a listen!
I know this is a summer song, but I've been really wanting to translate it as it is one of my top favorites from Nana ever so don't judge me for doing so in the middle of winter lol. Before I dive in though I'd like to mention that the title itself contains a made up word, 恋想 (=rensou), in it so there isn't really a "correct" translation for it and I went for what seemed to be close to the intended meaning. The two kanji there mean 恋 "love/yearning" and 想 "idea/thought". And then for the song itself - QC by Chinatsu as always!
A bit of a change of pace this time with some YOASOBI! As we were really into Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury when it aired, this translation is brought to you as a collaboration between me and @flying_mug, with QC by Chinatsu as always.
It's worth noting that YOASOBI has released an English version, but since they had to stick to the pacing of the song and the melody, it can't quite stay fully alike to the Japanese one.
Before diving into the new songs in the ADRENALIZED single, I am taking a moment to translate a couple of my dear QC Chinatsu's favorite songs - namely Red Breeze and glitch!
More translations coming up! This time one of my top favorite songs ever, Rock Ride Riot. I had a bit of a tough time after moving back to Finland after the first time I lived in Japan and when NEOGENE CREATION came out I looped this song so much since the bit 「本気になれる理由が欲しい」- I want a reason to give my all really resonated with me at the time. It helped motivate me to find my way back to Japan and now I've been on this side of the globe again for roughly 6 years. But! Enough of my personal ramblings, let's get on with the translation.

Here I am again!!! Going a bit more back into the Nana's older discography to bring you Invisible Heat! I wasn't super into this song back when it came out, but it has become one of my karaoke favorites recently and that has given me new found appreciation for the song especially as the lyrics really are so wholesome and convey a warm message - a message I try to live by as much as I can. Hence, I also felt the translation itch!

This time I am really keeping up the translation momentum and am already back with the next one, MY ENTERTAINMENT, which also won a poll on Twitter recently. Honestly been wanting to do this one ever since it came out (not sure why I haven't gotten it done earlier tbh), since it's such an amazing song that reflects upon the pandemic we all have been weathering for the past few years - how it's affected us and what sort of things, namely music, has had the power to help us pull through it.

Trying to keep the momentum in translating lyrics so I am back again with Turn the World! I quite like the message in this one so it was easy to motivate myself to get to it in a pretty timely manner after finishing Link or Chains. I also love the idea behind the cover image that Nana explained during the FC Event - how the reflection beneath her is still looking back to the past while the actual her is heading towards the future.
Lots of poetic readings of kanji in this one, so there's quite a few translation notes at the end to unpack them all - bear with me!

It's pretty different from other Nana songs with even a bit of a Latin vibe to it, which definitely played a part in reeling me in so hard since I've always been a fan of Shakira as well and as her songs are typically very sensual I kind of got possessed into make the translation for DNA -Dance 'n' Amuse- as sexy as I possibly could.
