Get my drift? -Thoughts and Translation-

I have been eagerly waiting to hear Get my drift? ever since Nana released the name, since I found it very interesting. I have to say that when I did finally hear it last night on smile-gang - I was not disappointed! In fact I fell deeply in love with it, which really isn't a surprise. Nana once again invades a new genre of music (girls' rock I'd say) with this song and makes it her own. I definitely place this song in the "what is this? I love it" -category along with HIGH-STEPPER and PARTY! PARTY!.

Get my drift? seem like a rockish alternate version of Thermidor and 恋の抑止力-type EXCITER-, due to its lyrics. Though while Thermidor tackles the theme of one-sided love from a thoughtful philosophical bohemian artsy perspective and 恋の抑止力-type EXCITER- from a more desperate perspective, Get my drift? approaches it based on frustration. I really love how these approaches make the songs very different. 

Now then, to one of the lines in Get my drift? which has gotten a lot of attention, namely "Want you! I want you to bind me". Even though this is a pretty ドM song I give you that (笑), I'm sure the word bind is mainly there to link it to the title of the album, ROCK"BOUND" NEIGHBORS. I mean, when you look at it, this song fits perfectly with rockbound, due to lyric choices and also because of its girls' rock atmosphere.

Last but not least, I usually have this rule of not translating any songs until the official lyrics are out when I'm not working on it for an anime fansub, but I just couldn't resist with Get my drift?, since I've been looping it ever since it came out and frankly that's all my mind is currently filled with. So here you go, hope you find it to your liking! m(_ _ m) I'll fix it later if the official lyrics end up being different. Now in accordance to the lyrics that @ヘイちゃん kindly posted on Twitter (and my assumptions for the ??? parts), here's the current translation! Lots of big words for me there, so if I got something totally wrong do tell me. (>_<;)
