The Magic of Music - テルミドール

So today while I was sitting on the train making my way to dance class, I was, with immense intensity, reminded of yet another aspect that makes Nana's music special to me.

Have you ever felt the story of a song, just from the melody? Just from the tone of voice? Just from lyrics you cannot understand? And with this I do not mean just the atmosphere of the song, but the actual content - the message it is trying to convey.

Top 10 Mizuki Nana PVs

So I randomly remembered today that I was going to make a Top 10 Nana PVs list. That had somehow completely escaped my mind, but I guess that's understandable with the new single hype and then me going to Germany and whatever else.. I remembered it today only because I was listening to Trickster, which made me think of the PV, which in turn reminded me I had not put that on my list for some reason and had to make amends.

Norwegian Wood

I read this book recently - Norwegian Wood by Murakami Haruki. It is one of the most beautiful works I have ever read, hands down. It is also very sad. I felt quite melancholic the whole time reading it, which only proves it is a great book - it makes you feel something.

The Wait for Persona 4: The Animation

First off I would like to say that I wasn't expecting much from the Persona 4 anime and was actually awaiting it with dread to begin with. Why? Because most of the time anime based on games are shit or boring to say the least. So far the only exception to this that I've seen is Tales of Symphonia, which I greatly liked. Oh and just to be clear, I am not counting anime based on visual novels here (like TYPE-MOON or Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom), because they're visual novels, not games, and they are usually quite excellent. Also, if it was going to be anything like Persona Trinity Soul I knew I would be very disappointed. When I watched that series I thought it was alright - slow but alright. Now though that I've been playing Persona 3, I am perfectly aware of how Trinity Soul did not do it justice at all (I Think I was subconsciously aware of this all the time, just ignored it). They even managed to turn Akihiko boring and stuck up! Why did you do that to my Akihiko? (┯_┯) I don't understand why they changed the personae to look so boring too. So since that was the only example of a Persona anime, I was quite worried.... but....

My Dad and Nana

I had a pretty interesting conversation with my dad a few days ago about what makes Nana so awesome. It was quite funny because it was him who started it, not me. I was visiting him in Germany, since he has to stay there for now due to his work and in the evening he put on Radio Rock. Eventually this song came up that was the sort of heavy metal he did not like and he exclaimed that "I don't like this", turned Radio Rock off and put Nana on instead.

Nana's 25th Single Junketsu Paradox!

Well this entry is a bit overdue, my apologies - I disappeared to Germany for a while. I was quite anxious about whether or not I would hold my copy of Junketsu Paradox in my hands before I was leaving to Germany on the 4th as the FedEx delivery estimate was for that day, but this time CDJapan and FedEx had a pleasant surprise for me - I got a call from FedEx on the 3rd (which was even the actual release date!) asking if they could come drop off my package within the next 20 minutes to which I nearly screamed a lustful " HELL YES", but managed to contain myself and reply appropriately. Fievel rewarded the hardworking young FedEx delivery man by screaming his lungs out. Dear delivery man, if you ever happen to read this - I am very sorry for my dog's misbehavior. NOW, BEHOLD MY BELOVED COPY OF JUNKETSU PARADOX!
