NANA MIZUKI LIVE GATE 2018 Day 5 at Nippon Budoukan

I can finally see a glimmer of the light at the end of the LIVE GATE report tunnel! Just a bit more!! I also started to wonder if you guys actually want me to write a report for LIVE GATE Day 7, since I only attended the live viewing and it's what is on the BD/DVD. Today my new lazy queuing approach didn't work for the first time.... pin was sold out by the time we got there. (T^T) which is a bit of a shame because it was green and that's my favorite color... oh well.

After the failed queuing, I bumped into one of my Nana friends from Thailand and we had a proper appreciation session about Beautiful together and how it would be awesome if someone from there would come do a collab for LIVE GATE too.

Inside Nippon Budoukan

Today's seat was on the first stand, almost at the middle back. At this point I received a major distraction, because when I checked my phone I had received a job offer from the job I had applied to. Omg, emotions and thoughts started racing through my mind at the possibility of living in Japan again. It kinda interfered with my enjoyment of the concert tonight since I kept thinking about it constantly.

After the previous concert I was kinda worried if the sudden jerk would happen again when the motorcycle ground to a halt, but luckily no falcon punch today. Phewww.

Welcome to LIVE GATE! Nana mentions how it's been so long since ZIPANGU and she was really looking forward to GATE. She warns us that there are no ballads in this live! She then talks about Nana Davidson again. Right after deciding that the opening song would be Vitalization, Nana decided that she really wanted to ride a bike because of Tsubasa in Symphogear. The motorcycle was painted the mizuki color and has a lot of stars, always in groups of 7. Nana found it hard to drive on the streets, since it is a manual and she is used to automatic. "So uncool" she comments.

Nothing much changed here. Tom-kun played Etsuraku Camellia and forgot the name, perhaps on purpose this time. Cho-san was back and played the acoustic guitar, "gara gara Itaruvich mada karate".

Mawatte! Today's mou ikkai is with Kenny. Nana tells him to stay to chat with her for a while and he somehow managed to steer the conversation into us asking Nana to make a GATE pun again. Nana takes the bait and says "Kenny to Itaruvich suGEETO omou" (This is a twist on "Kenny to Itaruvich sugee to omou" which means that "I think Kenny and Itaruvich are amazing" with GEETO being the Japanese way to say GATE). We ask for a mou ikkai on the puns. Couldn't catch that one, but Nana ended up lying on the floor with Kenny laughing by her lol she then tells him to please leave.

She then proceeds to talk about how worried she was about doing this kind of seven day live, since she wasn't sure if she could handle it. She is even doing voice work on the days in between, but somehow she feels very full of energy thanks to us.

Now that I knew that the MC is by TOMMY it was more fun to listen to it again. Now it does kinda seem obvious that it was him, but it really didn't cross my mind before. xD

Nana retracts a bit to talk about the CheriBo intro and how the last live, ZIPANGU, was of a very Japanese flavor (and how different the dance numbers for that and GATE are) and this time she decided to go for something more American and she instantly thought of Darker than BLACK and her role in it as Kirihara Misaki, who is a cop (FINALLY!! I had been waiting to admit that there was some DtB influence here xD disclaimer: Kirihara is my favorite Nana character ever). Then she made the cherry and sakura(damon) connection and thus the CheriBos become cops.

Then it's time to talk about MUSEUM III. Nana mentions how it is full of weird songs thanks to Symphogear. She marvels at how big of a thing Symphogear ended up becoming. And then Basilisk again. She reminiscences how back when the first Basilisk came out she was surrounded by only senpais and now with the new one it is like her and her children.

More fun watching this now too that I know the DtB feel was completely intentional. Honestly, I am pretty happy that Nana hasn't forgotten about that anime either.

14. Orchestral Fantasia feat. Takeda Shinji

Woah! It took me a while to realize who this person was, since he looked way different from [his role in Beautiful], but it eventually dawned on me. I couldn't really believe it because the timing was too great considering the conversation I had with my friend before the concert. Also man, I didn't know he played the sax! I was kinda skeptical at first about how can you do a duet with a sax, but Shinji made such a show out of it that it was mesmerizing to watch! It was also mesmerizing to marvel how he actually fit into those leather pants because they look way too tight. xD

Shinji was super excited to be a guest, like all the previous guests. Nana and him talked for quite some time, so I honestly can't remember most of it anymore... buuuuut here are some highlights. Apparently when choosing the collab song, Shinji had told Nana to pick one that normally doesn't have sax in it, so they ended up going with Orchestral Fantasia. He kept teasing Nana and showing us some of the videos he took of her during the production of Beautiful (they were shown on the big screens). One of then is of her during practice playing the piano and singing, and another from a Beautiful related party where she was giving a tearful speech about how grateful she is. After showing the second video he was like "and this was not even after the last show, but before/on the first day" lol. Nana is flustered and explains that she was tearing up, because the overseas people helping out with the production were leaving and she wouldn't be seeing them again. Eventually Nana had enough and kept telling Shinji to please leave already. Before leaving, Shinji still says that if the opportunity rises he wouldn't mind doing another collab at a Nana live with her again.

Time to leave Shinji world and return to Nana world! Nana does a brief recap of the previous guests. Then next it's time for a very atsui song.

Shassu! Nana thanks everyone for listening to her baka radio show for 16 years now. As usual, she talks about all the batsu game shenanigans and the bug eating. The best part of today's MC was her going like "NO NO NO NONONO". xD

The last song will be one that opened many new doors for her. And today is actually the birthday of that particular song! Yay! She sang it during her first time performing at Nippon Budokan and  she'll be singing it now.
