ポプテピピック スペシャルイベント～POP CAST EPIC!!～

Team Popuko forever!!

This time I'll be writing about something else - a seiyuu event! It's been quite a while since I last attended something like this and had totally forgotten how crazy seiyuu are. xD It was really nice though to enjoy something like this and it quite lifted my spirits.

The Event
The event kicks of with Steamboat Popuko. xD  And we also get some song snippets, before it's on to the main course of the evening!

日高のり子(Pipimu) 三ツ矢雄二 (Popuko)

(Hidaka Noriko & Mitsuya Yuuji)

The first pair of seiyuus grace the stage! Mitsuya declares his age (64, I think it might have been) and exclaims that who would have thought he'd get to play a teenage girl!  He then proceeds to continuously call everything kuso. xD

They receive a question on the big screen, which is:

"How did you feel when you got the offer?"

Mitsuya and Hidaka recall how they both thought they were just doing an audition for the anime, though in truth that was the actual recording. And afterwards, they were wondering if they would get the role or not even though it was already a done deal... xD Hidaka was sure they wouldn't pick her and says that her kids were watching TV and were like mom you're on!!

田所あずさ(Pipimu) 諸星すみれ (Popuko)

(Tadokoro Azusa & Morohoshi Sumire)

The question for this duo is:

"When you first met your partner?"

Tadokoro recalls how when she first met Morohoshi, Morohoshi was just 13 years old. Now she is 19 (still young if you ask me xD).

They start by talking about how they were so excited to be in the anime only to find out they'll be just singing a song - the disappointment! So they are thrilled to be doing some voice work here finally. Pipimu takes out her phone to do the thing that's on the video.

Yep, the verdict is that everyone is kuso! xD

Grand Pri Corner
The seiyuu that we've seen up until this point all get on stage! They have to come up with a funnier version of what Pipimu says in a comic panel about after mission accomplished.

We get suggestions like "Mom I might never make it home.." and "Next target King Records". xD

The winners of the Grand Pri are Mitsuya and  Tadokoro. They get to do some bonus line reading together of the mickey scene.

Hellshake ＡＣ部
Wow, then we get to see Hellshake irl! It was amazing, seeing those pages flipped in perfect timing like that. Then...

SONG: Opening Theme - HISASHI & 上坂すみれ
(HISASHI & Uesaka Sumire)

Hisashi and Sumipe perform the OP song together. Hisashi is a special guest. Sumipe chats with him a bit and is so shocked that he is such a nice person. She says that she thought he'd be scary with the way he looks dressing all in black and what not. She also says Hisashi and Hellshake are rivals and maybe one day they'll get to play on stage together. :'D Before this segment is over, Sumipe still asks Hisashi about his favorites in the anime.

Legend Corner with Hidaka Noriko,  Mitsuya Yuuji and Masashi Ebara

Masashi talks about how he went with an old man voice for Popuko. Sadly I don't remember too much of this corner to be honest.. orz

(Sugita Tomokazu & Nakamura Yuuichi)

Sugita is already doing some weird poses when being lifted up to the stage, which is so like him. The guys do their usual thing like in the anime, and talk random shit instead of proper lines. When the scene comes up where Pipimi's neck keeps extending Sugita is like "What, we are doing this again on stage, really??". Nakamura makes a joke about Gintama being done, except not really.

Then it's time for their question corner. They wanna see how many questions they can clear before the time is up. They just answer with grunts and reactions to the first two ("when you got offer what did you think?" being one). And from there, Sugita keeps making jokes about Sumipe. xD

上坂すみれ (Pipimu) ?????? (Popuko) 

(Sumipe & ??????)

Sumipe shows up on the Pipimu podium, while Popuko still remains as ???. Sumipe comments on how she's alone and calls out for a Popuko to show up.... we hear a familiar voice reply. It's Nana, she comes up!

And as is to be expected, their line reading starts with Eisai Haramasukoi (even the disco part).

We also get the Popuko presses a button -scene.

When receiving a hug from Pipimu Sumipe shouts "Shassu!!" and Nana's Popuko replies with "KAKATTE KOII!". They keep up the inside jokes.

For the retro racing game scene, Nana calls for "Vilkiss!!" and once again, more Cross Ange jokes follow.

They then do the "Ki ni naru" -scene. Followed by Popuko having a dream of being eaten by shark and enjoying it. Nana says in the end "a whale would be fine too", which is a callback to LIVE ISLAND.

Once they are done, Nana forgets her mic at the line reading stage at the top and returns to get it. Sumipe thought she went back for the line booklet so she goes back to get that. When they get down Nana's like "I just got my mic we don't need the booklet" and Sumipe throws it back up, though first fails at it. xD

They talk some more and go through questions. First up was a question regarding something said by  their producers, but Nana and Sumipe keep getting sidetracked I feel. Nana randomly kicks Sumipe's butt. xD

Nana tells that she is a big fan of Poputepipikku and recounts how she spent her birthday this year by herself watching it because no one was on LINE or anything (she told this at LIVE GATE also). Today she is HAPPY because she is here!

Sumipe keeps touching Nana's arm and biceps. So now they talk about Nana's training and how every time Sumipe comes to say hi all she can hear from Nana's place is huffs and puffs.

They then need to answer "Who is the most Poputepipikku person you know?". Sumipe says it's Nana. She's like "Nana's up there she's down there and that's because Nana's so pure". Sumipe keeps teasing and Nana's like "I'M TOO PURE I CAN'T HEAR WHAT YOU'RE SAYING LALALALA".

At the end, Sumipe remarks it's weird having Nana in an event like this where she doesn't have to sing or anything.

(Watanabe Yui & Makino Yui)

Watanabe keeps just repeating what Makino says by adding ne at the end when they are talking. xD They do some line reading as well. I was pretty surprised by Watanabe's range.

Grand Pri Corner

So for this Grand Pri, the second round of seiyuus are participating this time - Sugita, Nakamura, Nana, Sumipe, Watanabe and Makino. Their manga panel is of a sweaty Popuko.

Sumipe reveals hers first. Her solution is that some drink  was poured on Popuko's head...? xD

Second is Makino. She explains her choice by telling a story of how she and Watanabe  were eating in the dressing room earlier and Nana casually walked past and said good day normally to them, and then Makino started to hear this weird sniffling sound from behind her and Watanabe was there basically crying from being noticed by Nana senpai like that. She's super embarrassed but then goes into full fan mode bowing to Nana and saying she is a fan and how amazing it is to be here together. Sumipe who is sitting beside Nana offers to switch seats so Watanabe could sit beside Nana. Sugita who also is sitting beside Nana, offers to BE Watabe's chair lawl. xD

Watanabe reveals hers next. Don't remember what hers was though. orz

Then Nana. Her theme is even in 30s Popuko can keep going? Or something xD

Sugita next. His was something weird that had to be explained by Nakamura, but I didn't quite catch it.

Then Nakamura, his one is poking fun at Nana. xD

Winners are Sugita for Pipimi seiyuu...... and Nana AND Nakamura for Popuko. They do the Mickey scene too lol.

Everyone then sings the Tree of the Heart  song together.

We then get credits, with a message from everyone filmed backstage. At the end there's a random appearance on video from Aoi Yuuki coming out of the toilet and feeling unwell, then extending his hand and asking us to raise ours and grab his.

Then we get the reveal of Poputepipikku special broadcast in April 2019. Yay! \o/ And thus ends this kuso evening....
